2011-12-14
We are already at the end of 2011! Did you reach your goals this year? For Abak, 2011 was the year of Abak Web: we began our journey to transition to a completely web-based system, a project we should complete by 2014.
We want to thank you for your support and your commitment to Abak. We could not dream of having better clients!
We begin 2012 with new features in Abak Web and a mobile version. Don’t miss the free webinar in January!
Our client ABCP Architecture has recently won the bid for the ambitious and prestigious project to build Quebec City’s amphitheater. The SAGP Integrated Team, made of SNC-Lavalin, ABCP, GLCRM, and Populous, was chosen for the architecture and engineering phases of the future multifunctional Amphitheater in Quebec City.
The integrated team will use Abak to manage resource time during the project. We wish ABCP and the consortium success with this project!
Our client Pinchin Leblanc, and environmental engineering and consulting firm, is the focus of an article in Advantage magazine. Read their story.
In 2012, don’t miss these training sessions!
Abak 7.4 will be available shortly on our Extranet. Take advantage of this new version’s features:
Download the release notes here.
Reserve your spot on the free webinar and learn about the new features: January 26, 2012.
Abak’s offices will be closed on December 26, 27, 30, 2011 and January 2nd, 2012. Our hosting services will remain operational during this period; no service interruption is to be expected.
Should you have questions, please contact us.
Are you looking for a client in Abak, but you don’t have the full name? A client leaves a voicemail, but only the phone number can be heard?
Abak Web can help you.
All the grids in Abak Web have a search field for each column. Moreover, the search is done in the whole field, which means that you don’t need to enter the first letter of the name. For example, if your type Group in the client name column, Abak Web will return Turnip Group, Group Carrot, and Lettuce Consulting Groups. This helps you find a client, project, employee or project very quickly, even if you only have part of the name.
The same logic works for phone numbers: type in the area code and get a list of all your clients in that area code.

Let’s give everyone a warm welcome!
This summer, we upgraded our servers for Abak’s hosting service. Our servers are now faster and more powerful, giving you better quality of service for your Abak system.
Consequently, the hosting fee will be updated to reflect these changes, increasing our hosting fees by $12.00 per user licence per year. This adjustment will be effective on your next invoice.
Do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
Our clients who bought Abak before 2005 have already received their invoice for the 2012 support contract. The support contract gives you access to Abak’s services:
Without a support contract, your Abak system will stop evolving. With the support contract, you are guaranteed access to new features and bug fixes.
We recommend that you check with your IT staff that Abak’s database is backed up every day. It is the client’s responsibility to make sure a backup of the SQL database is made every day. Clients who use Microsoft SQL Express can refer to the documentation on our Extranet, which explains how to setup automated database backups.
Download the file directly here.
If you’d like to avoid the hassle of database backups, our hosting service is the solution: we take care of database backups and server maintenance for all our clients using our hosting services.
